This quotation by Joseph Chilton Pearce sums up a lot for me. It is my hope that in my efforts, I am always improving at what I do. In the summer of 2015, I forced myself to break out of a long artistic slump and become a daily painter. Carol Marine's glorious book, "Daily Painting" helped me to realize that I was over-complicating things. So I dropped most of my colour palette, said to hell with underpaintings and huge canvases, and opted instead for a limited palette of just a few colours: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ultramarine Blue, and Burnt Umber. Smaller canvases have made all the difference. What I thought would be a limiting size has actually liberated me and set me on a path of artistic recovery and rediscovery.
I am so fortunate to be a high school arts teacher, and to have summers off (and the occasional semester) with my two fantastic kids, and my supportive and encouraging husband. I live on a farm and retreat to the cabin whenever I can. Life is a great adventure and attitude is everything.
